Which Stars to Follow?

All country lovers know that summer time is the best time for country music.  For some reason, BBQ, being outside, and blasting country music just feels right.  Also, in the Philadelphia area this is when almost every country music star goes on tour.  So, even though I know most of you will be flocking to the Susquehanna Bank Center to catch the latest concerts, how can you keep up to date with country music news during the week?!

Well, my advice to you is to get yourself a twitter account (like you don’t have one already)!  Twitter is the one place, (unlike Facebook), where these country stars monitor their posts without their publicity team telling them what to write!  My favorite to follow are country couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton.  Amid divorce rumors, these two lovebirds tweet at each other from the same bed!  When he isn’t tweeting at his wife, Blake Shelton always leaves twitter followers with some laughs due to his hysterical (and often drunken) twitter posts!  Another funny star to follow is Brad Paisley.  He always add sarcasm to his tweets, showing his real personality.  Lastly, I’d advise any lady out there to check out Luke Bryan’s twitter.  Not only is he a sweetheart, but he often posts instagram photos of himself (which we all know are great to look at)!

Remember- almost every star has a twitter, but the official accounts are verified by a blue check mark next to their name!  Let me know which country music stars you guys like to follow and why!?!

AMERICAN COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS—TONIGHT!

To all my country music lovers out there, I am sure you are excited as I am for tonight’s American Country Music Awards, country’s biggest award show!  This year, Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan are hosting the event held in Las Vegas, full of awards and performances from country music’s stars.  I LOVE the fact that the hosts are Luke and Blake.  The last few years have been hosted by Blake and Reba, which I personally wasn’t the biggest fan of.  However, I think the dynamics between Luke and Blake are going to be funny, entertaining, and easy to watch.

My favorite part about this show is that the category for Entertainer of the Year depends solely on the fans.  Viewers can go online or text in your vote for entertainer of the year right up until the winner is announced.  This year the nominees for the biggest category are: Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, and Taylor Swift.  I think this is a solid group of artists, even though some may say Tswift is not so country anymore.

For those of you who keep up to date with country award shows, you probably know that Blake SHelton and Miranda Lambert (who are married in real life) normally take home a majority of the awards.  It will be interesting to see if this power couple holds their reign in the country world.

I am most excited to see the performances.  Between Hunter Hayes, Carrie Underwood, and a duet with Brad Paisley and John Mayer, it will definitely be an interesting and entertaining night for country music lovers.

After the show, feel free to let me know what you thought of the hosts, performances, and winners!  Enjoy the show!!

Luke Bryan’s Spring Break Release

http://www.cmt.com/videos/luke-bryan/734037/suntan-city.jhtml

So those of you who are as big of a Luke Bryan fan as myself, I am sure you know that this past Tuesday he released this year’s Spring Break Album! This album is a collaboration of some previous spring break songs, along with some new songs, as well! Every year, around this time, Luke releases an album with party-like, spring break tunes, then proceeds to play a huge, FREE concert in the Spring Break capitol, PANAMA CITY! From youtube videos, these shows look like an awesome time for any college student who enjoys a beach party. Here is the video of the hit song from last year’s Spring Break album, “Suntan City.” This song also happens to be my favorite, but I want to hear which Luke Bryan (or any other summer song) happens to be your favorite! As the weather warms up, it’s time to start making those summer playlists!

Top 5 Songs from This Weekend

Hi ya’ll!  Every Friday at 4, the Highway (an XM Sirius country music station) plays it’s “Highway Hot 30 Live!”  This countdown is a two hour list of the top 30 songs from the previous week, based on listeners’ opinions.  Here, I am going to list and discuss the top five songs from this past week’s hot 30 live!

#5– “Tip it on Back” – Dierks Bentley

#4– “Tornado” – Little Big Town

#3– “Better Dig Two” – The Band Perry

#2– “One of Those Nights” – Tim McGraw

#1– “Begin Again” – Taylor Swift

In my opinion, this is a solid list of top five songs, however, it is interesting that all five of these songs have been out for a while.  The fact that they are all still in the top five is just impressive, showing that these artists know how to make a hit song.  Out of the above songs, “Begin Again” and “One of Those NIghts” are my two favorite, although any avid country music listener would know, “Tip it on Back” has been circling the charts for weeks now!  It will be interesting to see how the top five change next week and if Taylor Swift can keep her spot at number one!

On a side note, two songs from the countdown this week that I think you should all keep an eye out for are “Merry Go Round” by Kacey Musgraves and “Redneck Crazy” by Tyler Farr.  Both of these songs are super catchy and definitely on the horizon for being in the top five!

Feel free to let me know what you thought of the countdown this week (if you caught it) and remember to listen live at 4pm every Friday on XM Sirius radio channel 59!

XTU Megaticket

To all you country music lovers in the Philadelphia area, I am sure you are familiar with the XTU Megaticket.  However, those of you who are not are in for a heck of a treat.  Each year, 92.5 (XTU), a popular country music radio station in Philadelphia, hosts 7 awesome concerts throughout the summer at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ.  By buying the XTU Megaticket, you actually buy a ticket to each of the seven shows for one set price!  When deciding whether or not you would like to buy the ticket, you have a choice of where you sit in the stadium.  For instance, the cheapest Megaticket price is for the lawn area.  The lawn gives you general admission to a seat on the lawn.  If you are thinking about buying the lawn Megaticket, I would advise you to bring blankets or lawn chairs to secure a seat.  If sitting on a rowdy lawn with some crazy country music lovers isn’t your thing, the Megaticket can allow you to buy seats for a higher price depending on how close you sit to the stage.  The awesome thing about this deal is that you buy the same seat for every concert!

Here are the dates and artists that will be participating in the Megaticket this summer:

Friday 5/17/13- Tim McGraw w/ Brantley Gilbert & Love and Theft

Saturday 6/1/13- Luke Bryan w/ Thompson Square & Florida Georgia Line

Saturday 6/22/13- Toby Keith w/ Kip Moore

Friday 7/26/13- Miranda Lambert w/Dierks Bentley & Kix Brooks

Saturday 8/10/13- Blake Shelton w/Easton Corbin & Jana Kramer

Saturday 8/24/13- Jason Aldean w/Jake Owen & Thomas Rhett

Saturday 9/14/13- Keith Urban w/Little Big Town & Dustin Lynch

As you can see, this is one awesome country music line up!  If you are interested in buying the Megaticket and getting in to each one of the above shows, you can do so by visiting http://925xtu.com/2013-megaticket.  If 7 concerts isn’t quite your thing, individual seats are being sold to each one of the concerts separately.

Either way, this summer is going to be packed with awesome concerts by even better country music artists, so get ready!
